About Us

In 2015, Leicestershire County Council announced that Cosby library and many other locally run libraries faced closure. Funding wold however be made available to communities wishing to take ownership and begin running the library service independently. Over the last year we have been working towards this goal and as of 26 September 2016 we opened our doors as Cosby Community Library for the very first time.

Much of the library’s services still remain the same, however we are continually trying to incorporate new events and opportunities for the village and the local community.

In total we have a wonderful team of 36 volunteers, who all bring something different to the table in supporting our library and the services we offer to the local community. From front of house library staff to the smooth running of library rotas, cleaning, odd jobs, gardening and accounts, through to all of the different teams that work hard to plan and organise activities and events, health and safety, building maintenance – The list goes on, but without all of this support and commitment, the library wouldn’t be where it is today.

Our core library management team is made up of 11 members, who meet monthly and oversee the core running of the library. This team is made up of:

  • Chair – Lesley Clarke
  • Secretary – Jane Rawlings
  • Treasurer – Julia Harrison
